Department of Food Science was started in the year 2021. The department offers an undergraduate aided programme B.Sc. Food Science and Quality Control. The course aims at training students not just academically but also in the areas that develop communication skills, soft skills and overall ability. The course is also designed to give a further thrust on developing a desirable attitude for self-employment in students. Food Science is basically an interdisciplinary programme involving zoology, chemistry, microbiology and quality assurance. It is purely a job-oriented course, with vast opportunities such as Quality Controller, Food Chemist, Production Supervisor, Food Technologist etc. The programme also offers industrial training in the first, second- and third-year giving students an opportunity to familiarize with the food industrial unit operations. The department work towards the upliftment of student’s knowledge and practical skill in the field of food science.
